AUTUMN LIGHT PENDANT

Like its cousin, the Winter Light Pendant, Autumn Light is a free-blown glass sculpture crafted by JMW Studio in Paris, meant to evoke the warmer light of the transitional season. The softly striped waves are created using the age-old, complex technique of filigree (or, weaving glass patterns) in a style the artist has been developing for over a decade, while the silhouette is the result of physically shaping the glass with cork pads while being blown. “We’re dancing with that tension and trying, as a craftsman, to sublime it, to give that tension a shape before it cools,” says founder Jeremy Maxwell Wintrebert. No two of the resulting sculptures are ever alike.
